BEV , the tactile prevention element
A Vigilance Awareness Band (BEV) is a tactile device adapted
to people with visual impairments.
It warns and secures blind and visually impaired people from
an obstacle or potential danger in an outdoor or indoor route.
Two types of BEV exist: strip and nails (also called studs).
The BEV must be placed at a distance from the danger zone
corresponding to the braking step, this distance is equivalent to 50 cm .
The width of a tactile strip must be sufficient to be
detected by a white cane and not to be spanned by a pedestrian. To be easily
visible to visually impaired people, it must be contrasted with its immediate
environment. Non-slippery, the tactile strip should not present discomfort for
people who have difficulty moving. #BEV , the tactileprevention element
